Time Managment

Difficult Tasks

Let’s face it, managing time is hard enough. However, it becomes even tougher when one is faced with performing a difficult or unpleasant task. Whether it's a complex project, a difficult conversation with a colleague, or a daunting deadline, these tasks can often leave us feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Putting off these tasks can make it even more stressful.

How can you motivate yourself? Here are a few tips:

Connect it to your own goals. Instead of thinking that a task must be done for some external reason like a deadline or fear of reprisal, connect it to your own career goals. For example, finish a project because it is a step toward your goal of moving ahead in the company. Or, deliver the bad news to a boss because you’ll get the chance of presenting your perspective on a situation.

Set a clear and realistic timeline. Before starting a difficult task, take the time to break it down into smaller, manageable steps. This will help you stay focused and motivated as you work towards completing the task. Additionally, setting specific deadlines for each step helps ensure that you are making progress towards your end goal.

Fighting Hunger

In August, Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) employees & their friends and family volunteered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank warehouse near downtown Los Angeles. The dedicated group joined other volunteers to assemble 3,400 mini-bags of potatoes and pears, equaling 17,000 lbs. These bags were delivered to meal distribution sites in LA County then given to those experiencing food insecurity.

After assembling the bags, all LAFCU volunteers gathered together to present a $5,000 donation check to the Food Bank. This amount helped to create 20,000 meals.

Since its founding in 1973, the Food Bank has distributed over 1.9 billion meals to food-insecure people in Southern California. A donation of just $25 helps to provide the equivalent of up to 100 meals for those in need. The Food Bank collects food from hundreds of resources. With the help of hundreds of thousands of volunteers annually and an agency network of more than 600 partner agencies, the Food Bank serves more than 900,000 people monthly. In addition, 97% of revenues go directly to programs.
